Treatment Center Lab Software

Our treatment center lab software now includes chain of custody and MNDR reporting. You can order labs and receive results, all in Kipu. New historical view, results graph, master instance report, and more!

All Data Is in One Place.

Medical personnel can enter lab orders directly in Kipu–just attach an easy-to-build statement of medical necessity. Kipu alerts your tech to collect a sample based on the schedule that you set up, or you can simply collect a sample when convenient, add a label, and ship to your lab. The chain of custody starts there and follows the sample every step of the way.

When your lab completes testing, results are placed in your patient’s file in Kipu and you receive a notification. Teams can review the lab results in Kipu, then react by changing order frequency, ordering panels, or ordering a retest. Deliver improved care with new reporting and links to The Golden Thread®, and save time chasing paper.

Speed. Accuracy. Efficiency. And It’s Easy to Use.

Kipu’s Lab 2.0 can benefit you in so many ways, and here are a few. First, you can place orders in your KipuEMR, using patient demographics that you entered on admission. You can add unique statements of medical necessity, created in your KipuEMR, that are automatically customized for each client. Next, you’ll easily and efficiently assign a lab test schedule which may also include a totally random frequency to each patient, and Kipu Requisition Scheduler will display when patients are due to be tested.

Quickly scan labels and efficiently transmit lab requests via our HIPAA secure Lab 2.0 interface. All you do outside of Kipu is send the samples and you will receive alerts that lab results have been transmitted back into Kipu and stored in your patient’s charts where they are waiting to be reviewed. Kipu Lab 2.0 is an efficient, effective feature that saves you time and ultimately saves you money. Lab 2.0 offers current support for:

  • 90 toxicology labs
  • Urine toxicology
  • Clinical (blood testing)
  • Pharmacogenomics
  • Hair testing
  • New dymo printer support
  • Client signature on label
  • New deeper reporting options
  • New detailed narrative builder
  • New MNDR report

Kipu’s powerful HL7 interface allows the facility to place lab orders, process requisitions, and receive results directly into the patients’ charts, eliminating paper. Your facility will save countless hours and effort spent handling reports externally, whether by downloading them from a portal, or scanning paper copies, and uploading them into the corresponding charts.

Eight-Year Record Retention

You are required by law to maintain patient records (including lab orders/results) for seven years after discharge. Kipu maintains all records for eight years and can extend that to 16 on request (including lab orders and results). If you are engaged in urine or blood testing without a Kipu interface, you are depending on the lab to maintain your records for you for seven years. That sounds fine until you consider that dozens of urine toxicology and/or clinical labs have closed in the past few years. For example:

GDSL Labs, Confirmatrix Labs, Spectrum Labs, AML Labs, ADLS Labs, H&J Toxicology, Seriff Labs, Advanced Medical Labs, Frontier Labs, NextHealth Labs, Gwinnett Labs, Dynamic Clinical Lab, Sky Toxicology, OneCall Dallas, Eclipse Toxicology, Med Lab Diagnostic, Inova Labs, New Beginnings Labs, Spectra Laboratories, The Laboratory Solution, Advanced Diagnostics, and so many more: Closed.

If you were counting on them to maintain all your records in a portal, or worse, on paper, you just might have a compliance issue. If you were using the Kipu Lab 2.0 interface, all your patient records would be safe in Kipu where they belong. Long after labs come and go, Kipu will be standing with $5m of cyber insurance, 99.998% uptime over the past 12 months, and bulletproof hosting that has never been compromised, not even by the security hackers we hire to try. With Kipu’s Lab 2.0 interface, your physician or medical personnel places lab orders in your KipuEMR and selects test panels, frequency, and reporting options.

Document medical necessity with our fast and easy built-in Narrative Builder, obtain patient consents, print custom labels with patient signatures, attach to the sample and ship. Kipu generates an alert to inform you that lab results have been received and are ready for review. Lab results may influence treatment plan modification, retesting, modification of testing profile or frequency or discontinuation of testing. It’s all linked to Kipu’s Golden Thread® and all your records are maintained in Kipu for eight years. You’ll also get access to our Provisionally Patent Pending and Trademarked MNDR™, our Medical Necessity Documentation Report.

Physician Review

With the Kipu Lab 2.0 interface, all lab orders and results that are pending the physician’s signature will live in one location where the physician can quickly login and sign off on these pending items.

To sign off on orders, the doctor can navigate over to the dashboard. Under the Physician’s Review tab, the doctor can decide if they would like to sign off on all orders or individually. These orders can be reviewed and signed off by the physician with a single signature or custom setup pin.

Sign Off on All Results

All results that have no abnormal results can be signed off by the physician with a single signature or custom setup pin. All results with Abnormal values will stay on the list so the physician may review them and leave a note if needed. The doctor can also use the powerful filter section in the header to view all results.
